I got Sherman, 3 month old kitten, last Saturday. I started off introducing him to Luna (4 1/2 yrs) w/ 1 of them in a carrier. They did a little hissing and some growling on Sherman's part but no biggie. When they were allowed to be face to face, they sniffed noses. Then i let them walk around in the same room (with squirt bottle ever ready in case of a fight. Luna kinda jumped at him twice but mostly just looked at him. He is a little scared of her and does the "submissive" pose. They keep an eye on each other now, but there hasn't been another "jumping-at" incident. They've also been sniffing each other w/ minimal hissing. Yesteday, Luna even walked right past him to eat his food.
He eats hers too. They are also sharing water and litter boxes (i have 2).
Sherman is still wary of her and Luna doesn't seem scared around him, but shows a preference to hide (though she's not a hider and will come looking for us after a while). I would REEEAAALLLY like them to socialize and *maybe* become friends
. But i would be happy if they could be around each other w/ neither hiding. I really prefer my animals to be social w/ people and each other, and I was *hoping* that Sherman might draw Luna out a little more, cuz she useta be very friendly but had some trauma w/ a previous roomie I had and has been a little bit more subdued since. I'm very proud at the way she's acting now though. I think she is aware that she is still the Top Cat =)
Anyway, just wanted to share with y'all. Any suggestions, advice or personal experience is always welcome!
