We took Tessa in to be spayed and they found out she wasn't pregnet thank goodness just in heat. So after she recoperated and healed she became more affectionate. She now wants to be pet constantly and rubs her self up against us all the time.

Before she was spayed she wanted nothing to do with us.

What changed?

My Lemony Snicket was the same way. As a kitten she was vile, evil, monstrous even. She's bite you as soon as look at you, scream and snarl if you picked her up. Clipping her nails involved towels, blood and tears. She was spayed at 7 month, much younger than I usually spay/neuter, but I wasn't planning to keep her.

She went into the vet, hissing and growling, and came out purring and rubbing. Her uterus was the source of her evil. Since that day she has been the friendliest cat I've ever had.

I'm assuming hormones, though it seems a bit unusual to happen that quickly.

I had a friend who had this experience too, her Tyra was an evil brat of a cat, but as soon as she was spayed she mellowed out and turned into a love bug!!

Recently spayed my one year old cat and she’s gotten more cuddly and friendly then she already was. She was never mean or vile, but she was hyper. Anyway, she’s calmed down and noticed she’s more needy. I love her all the same so more snuggly i think the better.

I spayed my kitten at 7 months. She was a sweet cat and quite vocal, but she only wanted to cuddle when I was sitting on the couch and she was ready to sleep for the night. Now she is super cuddly and takes all the pets she can get. The only time she can take or leave a cuddle session is when she is actively playing. Most published articles I’ve read say females often become less affectionate, but from a lot of chat forums I’ve been finding the opposite to be true. Perhaps affectionate cats become unconcerned, and the unconcerned become affectionate?
