This cat is driving me nuts. I need to sit at the kitchen table to study since sitting on the couch is making my back ache. But Stumpy likes to be where I am.

So to get my attention, she's trying to climb up our leather dining chairs (using her claws
), jumping onto the kitchen counter top which is nearby (
), jumping on top of the fridge (
), walking all over the table (
), and generally being a pain in the butt!!

I'm very tempted to just go back to bed and have a nap...

She sounds like a very determined kitty
Couldn't you just put her on your lap? Would she stay there?

This is kinda goofy but sometimes it works...

I set up a "decoy" pile
of books, papers, open binder
on the table where I'm studying, and the furry scholar will usually set up shop there instead of being completely in my face or running around meowing

Otherwise, it's time to run them around until tired

She'd just been tearing around with Lily playing! She didn't want to play, she just wanted to be annoying

Nope, she's not a lap cat.

She doesn't want to sit on the books, she just wants to be right where I am. The lounge room is fine because nothing is really off limits there, but the dining room has more things around that she's not allowed on (but it's easier for me to study there).

I ended up having a nap anyway... and now the sun is in this room, so I positioned a dining chair to be right in the sun and plonked her on it - one happy kitty now!

Yeah, although I'm not sure if mine can be called "naps"... They usually last about 2 hours

You had a nap then it was Stumpy's turn. Nothing like napping in a sun beam!

What a brilliant (albeit dastardly) plan! I'll have to try that next time a kitty plops down in the middle of my work...

YOu think that's bad Sibohan gets my attention when my back is turned by jumping to my mid back and using her claws on my soft bleedable skin to climb her way to my shoulder. It is better to let her continue once she starts because she digs them in deeper if you try to shake her off.
