Another no interest of Harry Potter fan here. I Occassionally will see a movie on tv but have never watched one in it's entirety. I guess they aren't that amusing to me.

Now give me LOR or the Matrix and I'll watch them over and over, ask hubby, I know them by heart and can recite the movies word for word.

I'm not. I've never read any of the books or seen any of the movies and I could care less.

I honestly don't see the hype

well I have seen all of the films so far, and read only 4 of the books. I got to the goblet of fire and just couldnt be bothered with it. I don't dislike HP, but i think some parts of it can be very boring.

I love them
I'd love to be able to apparate

I can't understand why everyone doesn't like them
Just as I can't understand why everyone doesn't like cats, or chocoate..!

Seriously though, it would be a dull world if we all like the same thing. I don't think the books are perfect and the last couple have been in need of a good edit, imo. I think her editors/publishers are too scared to criticise the books now and suggest they could do with an edit. They're great page turners though and that's always the mark of a good writer, imo. If you can't put it down they are doing something right.

I have no interest in the books or movies. My 12 yr old sister was just saying today that she's about the only person in her class who doesn't like HP.

In my own world, its much nicer there
Nope your not the only one, I haven't read the books or seen the movies, I have no interest in that nonsense. I do however have 4 of the dvds, well my wife does, but she hasn't watched them either since the only dvd player in the house is in my laptop. I refuse to relinquish my pc for 2hrs, so she can watch them.

Its the same with the lord of the rings movies, I've never read the books and only watched the first one because I had a Japanese guest staying with me who wanted to watch it. I was bored sh*tless and I'll never get those 2hrs of my life back. He couldn't understand the English so he too was pretty bored.

I don't have an interest in HP either. My 9 year old daughter has watched the movies and I seem to fall asleep during them. We have no plans of going to the theatre to see it and have no plans of buying the books.

I really think this is the case. I still haven't seen the Titanic because I was so sick of the hype and still cringe whenever I hear that Celine Dion song.

I LOVE Harry Potter!!! I own all the movies on DVD (even though they are getting worse), and all the books!

Scott HATES Harry Potter! I can see where he would not like it, but I STILL don't understand him not even giving Lord of the Rings a chance. I've read the books and they did an AWESOME job with the movies!

I think originally they were meant for kids, but as the books progressed they got darker with more adult themes.

Plus for me a good story has no age barrier.

I'm addicted.. I have all the hard bound books, and all the movies on DVD. My 5yr old daughter is addicted to them too... We went opening day to Order of the Phoenix movie.. So We are definately definately HP addicts..

I got hooked by mistake was driving back and forth, and ended up renting the HP Book on Tape.. I was totally hooked after listening to it...

It's sad I know,, but i think the books are beyond most literature, and they are soo vivid, and wonderful.

a good story's a good story, whoever it's aimed at. There's a lot of very good kids/young adult literature out there in many genres. There are a lot of good fantasy books aimed at young adults, eg Philip Pullmans Dark Materials and Jonathan Stroud's Bartamaeus Trilogy. The only difference between adult and what is defined as young adult literature is that the the main protaganists in the latter tend to be children/teenagers and the language used is often simpler than in adult literature. But there's no reason at all why adults cant' read a book aimed at children, just as there's no reason why an adult can't enjoy a movie aimed at children.

I'm not interested either. I read the first book and thought it was ok. I couldn't even read the second book. I tried a few times but couldn't get into it. It's not that I don't like Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, that's what I mostly read. I'm just not a JK Rowling fan.

The movies are mostly ok. We've watched them as they came out...usually when there is a spell of no good movies and we know we haven't seen the latest HP movie.
Honestly, I couldn't stand the last one. It was so long! So we probably won't watch the latest one when it hits dvd.

I am glad the HP craze is getting kids into reading.

I read the first two books and saw the first movie. I never really got into it; I can't understand all the hype. Glad to hear there are more out there who feel the same!

My sister who is 3 years older than me loves the books. I have said I'd give them another chance.
