So there's a bold little squirrel hanging around outside for weeks now. Every time my daughter goes outside, it meets her on the deck. When she climbs a tree, it climbs the tree with her.

It's always peeking in through the french doors, and gets all excited when it hears her voice. She's not allowed to feed it, but it's not going away. She says she's going to start a Squirrel Company to help squirrels, LOL.

There's no rabies on Vancouver Island, but I don't want it to nip her and give her some disease...

She's named it Cheeky since it keeps following her into the house! Guess that will be time for the camcorder and AFV.

Her drawing of "her" squirrel:

[font= "Arial Unicode MS"]That is so cute!
On the ranch as a kid, thre was a little ground squirrel I named Paul-- I found him in his nest when I was 8. I didn't know any better and started messing with him.
Somehow, Momma kept feeding him and he became my tame little Paul! Every day at 6:30 am and 5:30 pm I'd go out and feed him. The day he died (snake bit him) I cried and cried and cried... Sorry for the downer on the sweet story. That is really cool though, tell your daughter she has a wonderful gift for drawing!

Your daughter sounds like such a nifty kid! And that drawing is remarkable... she's really paying attention to anatomical detail, the coloring, everything. Even the peanut is GOOD!

1st she is a stuffed animal rescuer and now a squirrel whisperer. You have a special little girl with a gift for animals it seems.

Thank you for the kind words!

Yup, she definitely has a tender heart for animals. I wouldn't be surprised if she joins TCS in a few years when she gets more interested in the internet.

She can call herself "SwampWitchChild" and confuse everybody even more (with SalemWitchChild)!

Aww maybe it feels that it can trust her because she's young? My grandparents have a chipmunk that comes right up to the steps of the house. My grandmother feeds it peanuts. Of course she's very careful not to get bitten, you never know with wild animals, they could have been exposed to all kinds of differen't diseases.

Why would we be confused?

Wish that we could be so lucky.
