Hi,

I'm writing here because I can't get in contact with my vet. As my cat, Pepper was licking himself clean, I notice on his tail, there was a spot where I could see his skin and a recently dried blood on there as well. What's going on here? Is it a minor thing or a real symptom of a huge emergency?

Please someone on the forum inform ASAP.

How big was it, Jeff? Is he using his tail normally? Does he show pain if you manipulate the tail?

It's about the size of a dime. You don't notice it right away. You have to brush his tail to see it. Right now, he doesn't appear to be in pain as I can see and there's nothing strange with the tail. Its night time as I am writing this email and he's having a lot of energy right now.

But again, I have to wonder what this is.

It sounds to me like he's been checking or licking at the spot. At least, I see spots like that on dogs with allergies and/or skin problems all the time, usually at or near the base of the tail.

Nothing to panic about. Just call your vet in the morning and see if he wants you to bring him in.
