I am new here. I just found the site the other day. I don't have a cat currently. We are talking about adopting a cat or kitten. The only thing is, we have a poodle mix that we adopted last year. She really does not seem to like it when neighborhood cats are in 'her' yard.

Definitely check out the link, but from personal experience, dogs can act differently to household cats vs neighborhood cats. Our Shelties absolutely hate the strays that wonder the neighborhood and can't stand it when they venture into our yard, but are fine with the ones in the house.

Hello & welcome to TCS. When Blossom came to live with us we took introductions slowly. Admittedly she was only a 3 w/o kitten, but we let the dogs look into her box at 1st. Sooty the younger & biggest dog would go to the box for a look when we weren't looking. As Blossom became more mobile we let Sooty play with her but stopped it if she became too rough. As time went by they all became friends & Sooty & Blossom love to play & chase each other.
