Y'know, I'm not religious... but I am very spiritual, and sometimes I feel like it helps to go over to the little chapel at a Catholic church near here and light a candle and spend some time sending good thoughts out from that quiet place. I think I'll go do that...
I think I "know" what you mean.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, and yours.

Still no word -- but that's good. Yesterday at this time, there was doubt as to whether he would even survive the flight to Columbus, so no news is good news.

If he is eligible for a kidney transplant, he'll certainly get wonderful care -- the head of the transplant unit at this hospital is the sister-in-law of one of my best friends. Tiny little world.

Thank you all for your good thoughts... I'm sure you've helped get him this far!

I still have no news -- we've talked to the rest of the family back there, but no one's had any contact.

But I did call the hospital directly awhile ago, and they assured me that Uncle Jack is still on the intensive care patient list, and that means he's still living -- so okay, we'll take that!

I so appreciate your care and concern... I'll post as soon as I know anything.

WOOHOO!!! Thanks to a timely PM from SwampWitch, I tried the hospital again at just the right moment to catch Aunt Helen in the ICU waiting room! She said Uncle Jack is fully conscious and able to speak now, has had a "vent" of some kind removed, and is awaiting transfer out of ICU to a regular room! So that means he's doing much better than he was!

She and my cousin were on their way in for the 1:00-2:00 visiting hour, so she couldn't say much more than that, but she'll call later with a full update. Thank you all so much for your vibes and prayers -- THEY'RE WORKING!

UPDATE: Uncle Jack is still improving, in a regular hospital room now, and his kidney is working again!
I wish I could talk directly to the doctors, because the family members involved are not very good reporters on medical information -- but apparently, they injected something directly into his kidney (he only has one), and it kickstarted the whole operation, so he's doing very well indeed...

...So well that he may be able to go home in ten days or so!

I cannot thank you all enough for the great kindness you've shown... and I truly believe your good thoughts played an important role in this.

Missed this thread until now, and just wanted to say how good it is to hear that your uncle is doing so much better, and to add some for his continued improvement.
