I thought I'd be super organised yesterday and made a meatloaf last night with the plan to have some tonight, and freeze the rest for when we couldn't be bothered cooking.

Well I made it, and DH asked what to do with it after the timer went off. I told him to just turn the oven off, as I had to add some stuff to the top then cook it another 15 minutes and I was in the middle of something.

Of course, I just discovered it this morning still sitting in the oven... sigh!!

And to make it worse I just put it out on the kitchen counter and walked into the kitchen to discover Stumpy licking the top of it
I wonder how often she eats things when we walk away for 5 minutes and jumps down before we catch her?

So this meatloaf is absolutely, positively being thrown now.

I could see myself doing that, if I lived alone. If it were me, and I asked my boyfriend to turn the oven off.... he would have turned it off... taken out the food... and ate it!
It would have never had a chance to just sit there...

I don't THINK I've ever done it before.... so I'm blaming the baby. Whether it's just me being an idiot or not, I'm going to blame pregnancy. That's one of the good things about being pregnant. You can blame EVERYTHING on it.

I eat salads a lot for lunch, and I like to have boiled egg on it. I'm always putting eggs on to boil and forgetting about them until they're so overcooked they crack, or I do get them done and put them in the sink to cool, then forget to put them up at night!

I've done that too

So far as kitty licking it I still would have kept it had that been the only thing, but having sat in the oven all night is a no-no. So based on that alone it would be tossed.

Sorry you missed out on yummy meatloaf.

I have more mince here, I'm trying to decide if I should redo the meatloaf or make lasagne instead...

One time I was getting ready to make dinner and started defrosting a package of porkchops in the microwave.

I can't remember what got my attention, but we didn't have porkchops that night.....and had no need to open the microwave for a good two or three days.

Imagine my surprise when I open the microwave to that stinky, gross, perfectly thawed and leaking mess.

I wish I could blame it on pregnancy!

Needless to say I got a new microwave that beeps a lot now.

Oh Sarah -- hey at least you didn't go out and start the car, go back inside to get something. . .

and remember SIX HOURS LATER that it was running!!!!

It's only one meatloaf. The first of many little space-cadet moments you'll be able to laugh about once your little one is here in your arms!
