I know this question is way out there... but hopefully someone can help.

I want to buy a small gift for a young man from Thailand whose wife just had a baby girl. He hasn't even seen her yet, but is leaving soon to be with them. I don't want to get a Canadian t-shirt or something that he can pick up at the airport. I know the climate there is warm and the man loves music.

I don't want to buy something too commercial or in bad taste, but I know nothing about the culture there! Any ideas?

Sorry I don't have any ideas either.

Is the gift for him or the baby? If it is for the baby, maybe a small bracelet with a charm. If for him, a small pewter picture frame.

She's from Indonesia, but since she's expecting, and he's familiar with Thailand, he'd probably be the best person here to ask.

Why don't you PM him (theimp98)?

Ha ha, it does look like that! But I wouldn't sell it, I'd keep the baby.

I was thinking for the baby. Something western and novel, maybe, but I don't want to commit a faux pax. I saw some iBaby onesies but maybe that's too commercial? I love the idea of a little charm bracelet!

Yes, maybe a child-size bracelet with a charm of the Canadian maple leaf! They could add charms to it over time, and she can wear it when she's a little older. That's a lovely idea!

i setn you a pm , but after thinking it over.
I would maybe get him the same thing you would get a new father here, that would make it different. Like i said, jsut stay away from clocks and stuff.

or go with the sympathy card(it always seemed to work for me in the past
)
