My husband and I have a new home that was built about 1.5 years ago. One of the features that the builder added was to put "Tubes in the Wall" (I think that's the brand name). It's a tube system with little holes in the tubes, which are embeded in the wall. Our pest services comes by quarterly to use a pressurized pest spray through an outside port. That way it's safe for the pets and they don't need to come inside and we don't need to be home for pest service.

I recently inquired about flea control for added protection. They can add this on as an additional service. It is applied through the same outside port. I'm wondering if anyone has used this for fleas? We don't have fleas, I just like the idea of added protection. Any thoughts?

I am not fond of adding anything that isn't needed. Chemicals of any sort have consequences that may not be apparent for years. Also, if it isn't enough to kill off all of the pests, the surviving ones could develop a tolerance for the chemical involved (making it no longer effective).

I've not heard of the tubes. I assume they run parallel to the foundation?

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough about the system. They are embedded in the foundation and they are running through all of our walls. It's a two story house and all three floors are finished (about 3,000 square feet total). The tubes have small holes in them so when the pest 'stuff' is sprayed through the system it gets sprayed through the walls. It sounds like a good idea. But I'm thinking that with fleas, wouldn't they be in the carpet? So would this really do any good?

Fleas can get into your house by hitchhiking on your clothes, so I guess the system would not be effective if that happens. More often they get in the house by hitchhiking on pets though. Unless you have pets that go in and out I wouldn't think you would have a problem.

With this system couldn't the pesticide sprayed into the tubes leak into the house via the same cracks and crevices the insects use to get in?
