How do I get Zebra to stop going in my boxspring? Up until yesterday, I had an extra mattress under my bed, but I got rid of it yesterday and now she can get into the boxspring through the hole she made. She was in there like all night last night until I finally got her out of the room and closed the door...which she does not like.

One of my cats does the SAME EXACT THING. And it really irriates me. Mostly for the fact that she did it to a brand new boxspring. My boyfriend had let her do it to his bed at his parents house when he lived there. And when we moved in together, we bought a new mattress and boxspring. Within a week, she had the bottom of it torn down so she could climb up into it to hide out. I was really mad that she did that. I havent done anything to stop her. She likes to climb up there when her and her sister have a fight and I think it's cute that she hides up there.

My Mutty would sleep in my box-spring for YEARS. I think she eventually just got too chubby to do so.

I hated it, it would really scare me. Right now we have a platform bed, but we're getting a new bed, already on order, due here in a couple of weeks...and I really hope Sophie or Lily don't take to getting up in the box spring.

IA. If you need me, just meow..
Mine did that to my new bed and we only found out because we had to move the bed. Oh well, no harm done and we fixed it so they can't get into it anymore. (so far..)

Lola liked to do that. We had to put a stop to it because I was worried she'd be in there in a flash if there were a fire alarm (or real fire). So, we just put the boxspring flat on the floor.

If you want to keep your bed elevated, you can either buy some wood (thin, like pressboard) and fit it to the right size so that the boxspring rests on the wood, or try buying a good quality fitted sheet and putting it on the bottom of the boxspring. You could secure it with a few stitches or even staples from a staple gun if your kitty is really persistant about worming her way in there.

Hope that helps.

I think a thin sheet of plywood would be the easiest way to protect the bottom of the box spring. It should be thick enough to deter scratching, and if it's not you've got another problem
