I've had Salem for just under 2 1/2 months now, but the over-the-counter wormer, flea drops, and ear mite drops seem to have no effect. The last straw was when he vomited up a roundworm. He'll be seeing his vet asap (not sure they're open on weekends
), but aside from that, I want to know what treatments you guys use that actually work and not cost half a vet visit and do absolutely nothing?

It makes me so mad these people can market treatments that don't work.

Most people here will tell you that OTC treatments, both external and internal, are usually ineffective and can be positively dangerous. I know it means money, but only a vet can analyse what your cat needs and prescribe the correct dosage for age and weight etc. Even flea treatments, especially the collars, that you buy, have been known to actually kill cats. I would make an exception for Frontline as a maintenance measure once your kitty is free of parasites - you can buy that in good pet stores. Do take your cat to the vet, get what is needed and be certain that all is well.

Just to update, I took him to the vet on Monday, and was able to get frontline, drontal, and something for ear mites (forgot the name). Other than those bugs, he was healthy
