Has anyone other than me been trying to find out if Joseph Barnes was ever reunited with his one-eyed cat Patches after Hurricane Katrina? I can'tfind any updates, and this is just something that breaks my heart. Joseph was homeless but rescued Patches as a kitten. She had something wrong with her one eye and he raised moneyto have it removed. He would walk the streets of New Orleans with Patches on his shoulders. He wasn't alllowed to bring her into the SuperDome (or whatever Dome it was in NewOrleans) and a National Guardsman assured him the cat would be okay. But he never found her.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THEY WERE EVER REUNITED??
Thanks,
Mare

Why don't you contact CBS news and ask the reporter who filed the story? If there hasn't been a followup, maybe the reporter would do one...

Oh, that was just one of many, many articles that appeared about Barnes and Patches. I did find a message board, however, but the last post was from last year, saying he still hadn't found Patches. I'm hoping that someone just adopted Patches and she's in a loving home. I mean, for a homeless guy to raise all that money to have surgery on the cat's eye tells you how much he loves her.

Wow exactly,, that is so sad. I actually had never heard about this until I just read that.

I did another search for news on Patches and found an email address on a message board for someone who might be able to give me information. The person just wrote back to me and this is what she wrote:

One of the rescue groups called me to say he rec'd a phone call from someone arount 3-4 months ago who had picked her up at the Superdome. This individual never left a name and the person she called had their cell phone turned off so we could not utilize caller ID. I am hopeful she is okay but this is the only news I have .

I'm hoping she WAS adopted into a loving home. I don't know for sure, but that's my hope for her.
