we took in a stray cat back in january he had been hanging about for about a year in that time we asked around if he was anyones put up posters and also contacted the local rescues with his discription and he was no ones. so we started feeding him and he slowy started letting my stroke him. when it snowed i had to bring him in even if he did throw a fit. the next day he was neutered fleed wormed ect.. he was about 3 years old at time and had already started spraying. anyway he decided he like it here and would come back for food and sleep in doors at night and is now part of the family but if he dosnt get let out side he does go mad and i mean mad.

well i have a few indoor/outdoor cats and some fully indoor ones. the problem im having is Tom the stray has decided he will not let any of my cats come in to there house he will attack them etc. iv also had complants from a few others saying that Tom has chased there cat in to there house and attacked him. his also spraying everything in the garden. he has never attacked any of the cats while he is in the house but is starting to have a few swipes.

help what do i do about this? as i really have no clue.

He sounds like a great cat, just not for your family. He might be happier in a household with no other cats. Can someone you know take him? Or perhaps calling the local no kill animal shelter? Other than that I'm not really sure what you could do to make peace within your house. Good luck and keep us posted.

we took on a cat at the same time as Tom . and theo hated other cats but loved human company he caused my own cats so much harm. we tried for 4 months to find him the right home before anyone was intrested in him. the shelter wouldnt take him on because of how he was and wasnt the ideal cat to be rehomed but we finally got him a great home. so i know i will have trouble finding tom the perfect home, the shelter have said because he was a stray and iv had him neutered and tested it wouldnt do him no harm by letting him be a stray again. but i cant do that there is no way i can not let him come in as this is his home and the rescue wont take him as his not in danger or anything. and i dont know no one who will take him. his a big luve bug and loves to be held, cuddled and lay down with you. i just really dont know what to do for the best.

Can he be your cat but be a strictly outdoor cat? Of course, you'd have to provide him with shelter from the cold (like a dog house or something similar). As long as they can get in out of the cold and have access to food and water, some cats are perfectly happy being outdoor only cats.

Oh wait.... you said he was spraying all over the garden.... guess I wasn't listening very well.

Hmmm. I'm scheduled at the shelter tomorrow so I'll ask everyone's advice on your difficult situation. Stay tuned! And sorry I can't offer better advice.

How long has it been since he was neutered? Is there any chance that some hormones are still raging? Have you tried putting Rescue Remedy on his ears to calm him down? Or Feliway, the spray or the diffuser, to put pheromones in the air to calm everyone? What does your vet say about him? Can he possibly be sick and trying to tell you?

These are all the thoughts I have. Please keep us posted. Good luck to Tom and to you and the other cats.

he was neutered back in januray.
iv tried the feliway spray and diffusers but not heard of rescue remedy.
vet said his healthy. but thank you everyone for the suggestions, i would keep him as an outdoor only cat but its the problems his causing outdoors that is the major problem. but i have tried keeping him in and its near on impossible.
