im really worried about my cat. he was fine last night when i went to sleep and today i saw that he puked all his food out and then he was puking with just water. it took me a while to find him since he was hiding in the closet and when i did he looked scared, lethargic and weak. first he was trying to hide again, then i forced him to drink a little bit of water and left him alone for an hour, then i forced him to drink again. he did not puke the water out but still looks very weak and lies down all the time. i wonder what could have caused this. should i drive him to the vet or should just let him rest?
im worried that he might have eaten a bug that was sprayed with chemicals or smth like it. the other thing that i suspect is dry food,my other cat is fine and she does not eat dry food. but then again we had this food for a while and i dont think it gets spoiled that fast...
im lil lost and really worried

had this problem. The dry food I was feeding had switched formulas & I was unaware of it at first, and he started vomiting & became lethargic as well. I took him to the vet to be safe, but in the end, it was to do with the food, so we just switched & he was fine

Has your dry food that you feed switched formulas or anything recently?

I'd take him to the vet ASAP to rule out anything serious- best of luck!

No one there til 5pm? That seems odd - I would definately call around to see if you can get in with another vet. Tell them your kittys symptoms & that your really worried & NEED to be seen right away. Most of the time they will try to squeeze you in the best they can

Does he feel warm? A fever can cause lethargy and vomiting...also is he prone to eating odd things as many kitties are?

I have a rubber band-eater and I always worry about blockage.

What about constipation? If he's backed up that can also cause vomiting. Hopefully the vet will be able to tell you what's wrong.

It's good that you got some water into him.
for you and your kitty, please let us know how it turns out!

Please do take him to the vet, and keep trying to get water into him until then. I hope it turns out to be something simple to fix.

You say you've had the same bag of food for months - it's possible that it might have gone bad in that time. If the food got damp at all, it could be getting moldy, which can cause very serious illness. I would buy a new bag to be safe.

i took him to the vet, he checked him out, said that there is a lot of gas in his stomach, they are thinkging that it might be a foreign object that blocks the flow. i think that in this case the cat would not be weak and lethargic after less then a day but would try to eat again, and then puke again. vet gave him a shot of some kind of medicine that does same thing as peptobismol and then cat received 20 cc of cat version of IV. i got flagyl and special diet food for next 2 days. if he is not going to feel better i will have to do xray and blood tests.

The vet gave you good advice on the xray and blood tests if no improvement in a day.

Keep a VERY close eye on him and if he seems worse get him to the vet right away.

You should not force feed him because eating is making him vomit and if he has a blockage it will only get worse.

Your last post was just a few hours from the one before, and it may take a little while for the stuff the vet gave him, to work.

If you end up taking him back to the vet for the blood tests and xray, talk to them about holding him for observation and especially making sure he gets an IV since he is not ingesting stuff now. A dehydrated cat is very dangerous.

Good luck. You are being very diligent and that is good.
