Hi...

It seems it's my luck that whenever Simone has a vet appointment just for a checkup she gets sick right before. Anyway, she hardly ever vomits (maybe once or twice every few months) and she always seems to vomit a clear, mucousy substance. What's alarming is that she has done that 3 times today: once around 8 a.m., again around 5 p.m. and last time around 7:00 p.m. I've been watching her all day and she hasn't tried to eat and drank less water than normal. I fed her PetGuard wet food around 6:00 p.m. and when she puked after, the food didn't come up. Then again, she only took a few licks.

I've been scouring for information but I don't see anything that talks about lack of appetite between bouts of vomiting. Any suggestions? She's been trying to sleep but seems a bit restless.

Thanks in advance.

I can't answer your question, but just wanted to say that I hope she feels better.

My guess would be that she is trying to bring something up but can't for some reason. Does she ever have problems with hairballs? Is it possible that she ate something inappropriate (inedible...string, toys, plastic, etc)?

Occasionally I have seen cats throw up clear liquid when their stomach is empty, but they are hungry...does that make sense? Leopold does that sometimes if he goes too long without a meal. Sort of an acid indigestion type of thing. But in those cases, they're hungry...very hungry.

Has she been using the litterbox normally at all today?

How soon is her appointment?

Sounds like stomach acid to me.....many cats with kiddney disease show this symptom frequently - THIS IS NOT TO SUGGEST THAT YOUR CAT HAS KIDNEY PROBLEMS - Slippery Elm Bark is one treatment often used to treat it:
The natural remedy most commonly used in the treatment of CRF is Slippery Elm Bark powder (ulmus rubra or ulmus fulva). Slippery Elm Bark is a herbal remedy used for most kinds of digestive or intestinal problems - it can be used for nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation. It soothes and coats the stomach lining and intestinal walls and reduces irritation. This can be extremely useful in combating the nausea and stomach acid which many CRF cats experience; as a side effect it can also improve coat dryness and dandruff.

Speak with your Vet about the symptom and using this remedy.

I had a cat with a bowel obstruction that vomited clear/foamy liquid. Your vet would be able to tell if there was a mass inside.
