Bah! If only my current employer allowed part-time employment. Ugh!

I'm currently working as a receptionist at a flooring company, but that's going to be coming to an end in a month due to college! I'm excited for college, not so much to have to go to work. And I don't know what to do!

Should I go for another admin assistant job? I could always try to go for a manager position at the theatre where I once worked, but doing that, or any other customer service job for that matter, would mean a drastic paycut.

What should I do?

Have you applied for grants for college? They have all sorts and it's free money. Contact the financial aid office and set up an appointment with a counselor!

As far as work, I'd go for whatever pays the most. Good luck!

My current employer made it very clear that they don't keep on part-timers, at all. So I doubt they'd make an exception for me! Not only that, but despite the fact that I sit here and do next to nothing when the phone isn't ringing, they'd get mad if I were to bring in my books and do homework, which I think is a little silly considering I'm spending my free time here, on these forums, haha. Oh well, people are strange.

Grants aren't the same thing as student loans, are they? The last thing I want to do is get into debt even before my freshman year!

I could potentially do a call center.. I just don't know where I'd look for one. Is craig's list any good for finding actual jobs?

I don't know what you make or when you work, but you have several options.

Work at your current job and go to night school, if the company schedule will work with your classes. Two of my kids did this for extra money in college. Some classes can be done online, so it might not put you as far behind your plan as you thought. Most night classes are longer in length, but not as many nights a week.
Work at your current job and take Saturday classes.
Find an apprenticeship in your major. They don't pay extremmely well, but the experience and connections will pay off in the end. They also tend to be more flexible in letting you off for class.
Get another job, probably two, to make up for the pay difference. It they like you enough, they will work around your schedule.

Haha, a few problems.. I've already registered and paid tuition, so night classes and online aren't an option, at least, for this semester. And two.. I have NO clue what my major is going to be. ^_^;; that makes things a little tough!

This one woman at Arbonne international is pushing me to be a sales person for them.. She keeps talking about huge money and this that and the other thing, but I don't know if I could deal with the pressure of commission, you know?

No, you don't pay grants back; they are not loans. There are grants for students in all different kinds of situations, given by many different groups and businesses. You just find out which ones you are qualified for, fill out the application(s), and cross your fingers.

I have two university degrees and got between one to two grants every semester. Most people don't know about them.

The issue is, probably anyway, my dad looks really, really good on paper when in reality, he's barely making ends meet. He has like, 250,000 in real estate, except they don't take into consideration the taxes, fees, etc. If he were to sell any of his two vacant properties(he's had a very difficult time renting them out), he'd see barely any of the profit. So that might make it a little difficult.

I'll look into a grant for sure, though. We'll see!
