Hello! I'mnew here, I'm a die hard cat lover, I have 2 cats of my own. A dsh, Suki and a flame point himi, Bobby Brown.

I ran across an ad yesterday about a family immediately moving and can't take their cat AND her 4 kittens. (born July 2nd). My husband and I have agreed to care for them for 12 weeks, get them vaccinated and altered. We are going to pick them up on Friday or Saturday.

This is my first time caring for nursing kittens and mom any advice would be helpful!

thanks so much! Hope to make great friends here!

first of all welcome to the site. the first thing you can do is set them up in a quiet room where none of the other animals can go. this will help to make her feel safe, as she will be a bit nervy to start of with going to a new home etc..
feed her a good kitten wet and dry food, let her eat as much as she wants to. make sure her food and water are near to her nest as sometimes they do not like to travel far from their babys. and make sure her litter tray is in the same room as her. and basicaly just make sure the kittens are nursing and that mum is cleaning and stimulating them. a good way to keep an eye on their weights is weigh them daily at the same time (you can use a kitchen scales) as long as they gain this is fine but its a quick way to spot any problems if they start losing. and bless you for taking her on.

thanks so much! is there any specific type/brand of kitchen scale that works best? Any recommendations?

Fortunately, the owner said she already has homes for 2 of the kittens. Close friends that she works with. We are currently workin gon the other 2.
