Java ate some salmon again this morning. so she is eating, but not very much, & not her usual kibble
still acting like she feels just fine, comes when called, jumps up for kisses, etc. if she's still 'off' her feed, she'll be coming with me to the vet on Monday, when Firefox's next appointment is due, & i'll ask them what they think.

hope you guys aren't getting tired of this!
i was fixing the evening 'wet' food meal, & had the tuna out for Java... while i was preparing everything i saw her eat a small bit of kibble
she also ate some tuna. i'm thinking she just needed a 'jump-start' on the eating process, maybe?
anyway, keep those 'eating' vibes coming - they seem to be working!

i don't think so. her nose looks ok - sometimes she gets stuff in it i can see, but i can't see anything in it at this time. she's acting a lot more like herself now - sitting with me, not behind the sofa like she has been lately. i thought she just like the pillow back there! but today she's been much more social. interested in my cigarettes [menthol] - should've known she was under the weather when she stopped trying to mess with them, huh?
anyway, whatever it is/was, i'm thinking she's on the road to recovery. we'll see what the rest of the week brings.
i got a new cat carrier at Dollar General for $12 - hot pink, triangular, soft-sided, with 'Princess' zipper pulls - she's in love with it! i left it open & out, like i do with all of the carriers, & she's been lying in it a lot when i'm in the kitchen... i guess it's hers, now! [had to get a new carrier, so i had one for every cat, just in case i need to pack them all up for some reason!]
keep those vibes coming, y'all!

Java's doing better... ate some salmon this morning, much more eagerly than she has before, then kibble later today. also drinking fine, but not overly. i'm going to keep giving her the extra 'treat' food, since she needs to put on some weight, but i'm not nearly as concerned as i was a few days ago. if she keeps this up, she won't be going to the vet.

well, she's eating, & still enjoying her treats, acting like herself. weighed her this morning, she weighed 7.5 pounds by my scale. i can't decide whether to take her in Monday with Firefox or not, since she obviously feels fine & is eating... what do y'all think? should i give it another week? what could they do, anyway? run a bunch of expensive tests? any suggestions to help her gain, other than what i'm already doing?

I'm thinking that you should give her another week since she is eating. If she's still losing, then take her in.

Just keep tempting her with her favorite things. and sending more

As long as she's eating and seems herself I think I'd give it another week.
Maybe she was just really PO'd about Firefox.

Still sending vibes her way.

well, she is/was the last to warm up to her.
still hisses at her more than any of the others, etc.

I think definately talk to the vet about Java, but taking her to the vet, you should be OK for now. Just keep watching her closely.

Do you have anything like Nutri-Cal or another calorie supplement? Often when my Twitch won't eat, I swipe some of that on the roof of her mouth & that gets her going. How it was explained to me is a cat isn't eating for some reason, they aren't getting the calories & loose the desire to waste calories to eat.

if she wasn't eating, i would definitely consider that, but she is eating. she just ate some salmon [she's been eating some every evening] & i've seen & heard her at her kibble bowl during the day. she's not interested in any wet i've found, yet - not even the fancy feast i bought. but the people salmon - that she likes
but not with extra salmon oil on it - i tried that earlier today, & she wouldn't touch it.

Has she had her thyroid checked or checked for diabetes? Roo got very thin and I found out it was her thyroid. Chuckie lost a bunch of weight really fast and it was from diabetes.

neither of these. she's not drinking loads of water, so i don't think it's diabetes.
the thing is, she had her annual check-up just last month, about 6 weeks ago, & got a clean bill of health plus shots - the vet commented on what great teeth she had, said i was doing great dental care [
- i don't do anything!]. no blood work, of course, because she's only 2.5 years old, but she weighed 9.7 pounds at the vet's office. she now weighs 7.5 according to my scales, which, admittedly, only weighs in 1/2 pound increments.
so it's just come up. she was acting kinda off, which i initally thought was a shot reaction, but not anymore. she's back to her old self, except there's less of her

i do believe things are improving! i haven't weighed Java since the last time - but when stroking along her back today, her backbone & hip bones seemed far less prominent! she's still getting her salmon snacks, & still eating kibble, too.
keep those good eating coming - they seem to be working
