Do anyones kitties get the hiccups after they eat? Mine go thru it for a few seconds every single time they eat! I've never seen a cat do this and was curious how common it was. They also seem to get the hiccups sometimes when they're playing and have done a lot of jumping in the air after their kitty toys.

Peedoodle has had the hiccups twice that I have observed, it did not seem to have any ill effect on him, he continued playing. I was surprised to see them in cats myself.

You can help these by elevating the food bowl a few inches from the ground. This will help the cat's throat to relax and make it easier on her.

I did that for Peedoodle as he used to scoff all his food down without chewing it and he used to throw up all the time. But after elevating his bowl (I put it on a tin foil covered shoe box) he hasnt thrown up ever since. Hissy - what causes cats to eat so fast without chewing on it?

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to think of a way to elevate their food bowl so that they don't tip it off. Either that or buy a new bowl that comes with a stand. I know they don't chew the smaller pieces of dry food because I don't hear them crunch much, just here and there do you hear them crunch. Maybe this will help that also?
