Btw about the condom comment. If you do not wish to abstain from sex, doctors DO recommend using condoms if you are not on the pill, if they were a load of crap they would not recommend it. There is a failure rate with anything you use.
Yeah....im not sure how you are still protected but you ARE, the active pills are still in your system.......I think its because your body gets used to the system of when you take the pills, and when you are off them, and if you miss a pill when your body is used to getting it......it hightens the risk. Im completely guessing though.

And of course doctors reccommend for you to use a condom if your NOT on the pill, but were talking about using condoms while ON the pill; something I wont do.

I am older but I know people who use BC pills and condoms. Condoms add an extra "layer" of protection plus help to protect against STDs. And, it helps the male to be responsible for his contribution as well

lol I wont get STD'S. I cant imagine anyone who takes BC to also use a condom......condoms are, rubber, and uncomfortable...and its not skin to skin. It seems silly to do unless your not taking BC. But whatever, I guess some people are just paranoid.

Paranoid? Yes. Responsible? Yes.

I am not ready for a child right now and will do everything to keep that from happening until we are ready. Its not being paranoid. Its called being responsible.

There is not a single person out there who thought they would get an STD when they got one. They are the gift that just keeps on giving.

When we have intimate relations with others, in a sense we are having relations with every person they have ever been with and every person those people have been with. That is not paranoia, that is fact.

Taking mutual precautions is a form of respect for ourselves and our partners.

I do agree on the skin on skin thing, but i've had a few freak outs where i thought i might be pregnant and so now i use both methods together to be doubley sure. Plus um..there is a benefit or two to using a condom. But this is an all ages site! lol

I've always used condoms at least the 7 days after my period when ive been off the pill and had my period so that im protected while im taking my next week of active pills.

Ive always assume the sugar pills could not protect you, as they only have lactose in them and no hormones. I'm very careful lol

I would say, whatever you want to do is your choice. If you don't want to use condoms, then don't, but I'm here to say, I have two friends that were oops babies. Their mothers were on birth control and the father's were using condoms. It was a slim chance, but it happens. Even women who have their tubes tied run a small risk of getting pregnant. Hey it happens. But, do whatever you are comfortable with.

I never said you weren't being responsible, but there are some of us out there that are being extra careful because we DONT want something to happen that we aren't ready for - not that I woulnd't accept a child with open arms, but financially- its not in my cards.

If you were to be responsible, you WOULD use a condom.
OMG, what kind of mseeage are you sending out to the girls that read this site?
*You don't need to use a condom, you are safe*
What a bunch of BS!!! Do you know, that you CAN still get STDs? Did you know that you CAN still get pg?The pill is not a GUARANTEE!!! It sounds to me, like you may need to go back to your Dr. and find out the facts about BCPs.

A friend of our has been with her boyfriend for 10 years (they met in high school). She now has an STD from him because he tripped and fell into bed with another women who had an STD
He didn't tell our friend about the other woman or STD until after she was diagnosed with it. Don't ask why she's still with the guy either. I don't even fully understand.

Anyhoo my point is that not insisting on a condom, at least before marriage, is putting a lot of trust into the other person you're sleeping with.

As for the placebo pills, they don't actually "protect" you on your period. They don't contain any levels of estrogen or progesterin. You're only "protected" because of the previous 21 days of pills. Kind of like when you stop the martinis after 4 and you're still drunk hours later.

Sweetie, see this beautiful little person in my siggy? She is the result of failed BC. I was taking it as prescribed, religiously, and I STILL GOT PREGNANT. Her father, who was not ready to BE a father, now wishes he had indeed wrapped up before we DTD. Thankfully, I had known him long enough (over 15 years) and trusted him enough to not get an STD, but if you don't know the character of the person you're having sex with, you still run the risk of getting an STD, or getting pregnant, or God forbid, BOTH.

Condoms + BCP isn't overkill -- it's good common sense. but I can see from the tone of your responses that you're a bit lacking in that regard. . .

I would just be very careful, it does not sound like you are ready for a baby.
