My nephew, who's staying with us at the moment, came in from downstairs this morning ( Sunday), to tell us that Big Bird our Rainbow Lorikeet was dead in the bottom of his avary.
We've had him for 9 yrs & will miss him greatly as he was a real character. He would come out of his avary if the doors were't shut properly, climb the back steps & call out to us from the screen door.
Sooty my son's 6 1/2 y/o mixed breed dog, when she was a puppy, would go down each day & bark at the bird. They became friends & Sooty would follow Big Bird around if he was out, where as my dog April was afraid of him.
RIP Big Bird & Bluey our little budgie who died 10 days ago aged about 11 yrs.
