Pic Posting Problems....

Thread Starter
I have always posted pics by clicking on the yellow envelope looking thing and inserting the link ........ when I click on the yellow envelope now, it loads the TCS front page. It has been doing it for several weeks, but I thought it was a gliche from the upgrade, but nobody else is obvioulsy having the problem. Can someone help me please?
I had the same problem after the upgrade. Was driving me looney! Now I use the IMG link in photobucket to post. Just cut and paste that link to the thread. It works and no need to use the yellow box.

edit: Here is my thread about it. Icklemiss21 helped

Ok I just tried using the paperclip using a pic I have used on here before from Flickr and it said "file error" then I copied and pasted Eithne's exact image quotes and pasted the link between them and preview post an it just link to the pic, not the pic itself.

I wonder where Ryan is .......... Im sure he can fix it.

did you take out the little * in Eithne's IMG quotes? I know this is a pain!

No I copied exactly ............ I sent Ryan a PM with this link so maybe he can fix it the way it use to work.

If I use Eithne's method, I will need to copy down those bracket things I guess to type in everytime. Hopefully Ryan can fix the problem or have it fixed.

me either. Thought I was losing my mind when the little box stopped working and no one else seemed to have the problem.
At least photobucket has the option of adding the IMG tags so it isn't so bad.

Oh Flickr had something on its site about "adding tags" I just didnt know what a tag was Im going to go see if I add those tags if it will just post with a cooy and paste.

Ok that is so over my head. It says to add a tag and then type in the tag, so I typed in the bracket things, (just like Eithne's without the *) and click save and it just looks like it did before I added it. There is just a pic, not words to copy and paste

I just looked at some I posted, they range between 18,000 to apprx 32,000 bytes.

Ok well as long as its in that range thats cool to just be able to copy and paste the image. Thats even better than the yellow envelope way I was using before.

Flickr saves the pics much bigger than photobucket as it doesn't optimise them when uploading (they base theirs on pic quality rather than image size)

Only IE seems to be having this problem so if you have firefox / opera etc installed and can use them it will solve your problem

Sorry. I can't fix this, but I was notified of the problem previously and have forwarded it. It's out of my hands though.

It does. Just copy the last line of the four under the photo, where it says IMG Code, and paste it.

Yes, that's what I do now. But just c&p the photo itself? I'll try it.

Copy and paste that last line. Up until this last server switch, I had no trouble using the little yellow icon to post pics, which I tested using various servers, although it was easier to c&p, but today it isn't working with Firefox or Opera for me. I don't use IE unless absolutely necessary - too many security holes.

This is a matter for the vBulletin developers to work out; TCS has no control over it.

While I can understand members' impatience with the inconvenience, there's not much TCS can do, other than inform the developers of glitches.

I've been following this thread and scratching my head, because I can't find anything wrong with the usual ways of posting pics. I normally use the fourth offering from Photobucket, labelled "IMG Code", click it (which copies it) and then paste it without any further adjustment and not using any of the icons on the edit screen. That's how this image was added...

I've noticed people talking about the "yellow envelope" -- that's for email links. If that's the icon you're trying to use, that would probably explain why it's not working. The icon for image links is the one next to it, that looks like a postcard. It works just fine, too, using the second line of code offered by Photobucket, labelled "URL link".

But maybe I have totally misunderstood the problem, in which case I'll go back in my cage.
It isn't that it is the wrong button, when you click on them it brings up a new box with the TCS header but no box to add the URL not the usual script box to just add the URL (in IE only)

(like this - link because the image is fairly large)

As far as the photobucket, this may help people

If you click that IMG box it will say copied and then you can just post that link in the text box on TCS rather than using any of the buttons

If you host elsewhere, just put [img] before your link and [/img] after your link with no spaces between the them and the link and it will work the same

You haven't misunderstood

But, it is that image link icon (not the envelope) that is not working for many of us. I started out using that until this last upgrade when it stopped working. Now I use the IMG option in photobucket which does the very same thing and is just as easy I simply had never noticed that photobucket option  until icklemiss21 pointed it out.
