New Kitten Not Meowing

My kitten is six months old and he hardly every meows. The only time he meowed was when I took him to the vet. (scared meow). I try to get him to talk, but when he opens up his mouth nothing comes out. Any ideas as to why he is not meowing?

Although there could be an underlying health reason why your cat doesn't meow- some cats just do not meow. I would take the kitty to the vet and let him take a look and let him know your concerns. He is really the one who will put your fears to rest.

What kind of cat is it? There are lots of breeds that aren't vocal in the least. You could ask your vet to put your mind to rest but otherwise count your blessings because nothing's worse than a cat that never shuts up.

Don't get me wrong I love my kitties to talk to me...but...there are times I love the quiet. I've had chatty cats in the past and at times I thought I would loose my mind. They usually wamted to talk during my Favorite soap opera.. during the most intense moments. They were soooo much like my kids! LOL
