Hi from Vermont!

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to have found this wonderful site! I've been looking for a site to express my love for my cat and to share health concerns and advice. So far everyone seems nice and very knowledgeable. Enough about me, here's all about Mitties:

Mitties is my 20 lb. cat I adopted from my local shelter 4 years ago when she was only 7 months old. I made the mistake of giving her food whenever her bowl was empty, and giving in to her begging for treats nonstop. Now we're fixing those mistakes and she's on strict portion control and, unfortunately for Mitties, no cat treats. We try to play as much as possible but it's hard for a lazy cat in a 1 bedroom apartment! She is certainly very spoiled and practically worshipped around here. My husband and I consider her our child!

I now volunteer at the shelter where I got Mitties. I love caring for the cats and dogs, and helping people with adoptions. I've helped make many, many great matches and love hearing from people who are just so happy with their new pet. Of course, working at the shelter has it's down side. You get attached to certain pets and then they are adopted, or sometimes they are put down because of health issues (we don't kill to make room) or aggression, and of course, my arms are all scratched beyond repair! But it's a labor of love and I certainly love it.

Anyone else here from Vermont??? Oops, gotta go... the Queen Mitties is reminding me that I've forgotten her supper ration!

Hi! Welcome to TCS! Oh, I hope to visit your area one of these days. I've wanted to see Vermont and New Hampshire for as long as I can remember, but still haven't made it up that way. This is a great site. I'm fairly new and absolutely love it!

Welcome to the site! That is great that you volunteer at the shelter. I admire people that do that so much...I don't think I could handle it. I would bring them all home!

Mitties sounds like a handful! Can't wait to see pictures of her. I bet she misses her treats.
