my cat had kittens 8 weeks ago all went well my vet advised me to have the mother nuetered this week . i had to keep her away from the kittens for 3 days before hand for her milk to dry up. she had the op yesterday . today when i was out my daughter left the cat out and of course she went to her kittens and when i got home they were feeding off her> do you think this would harm her ??? i seperated them again and now she is crying in the kitchen non stop. should i have left her with the kittens
any advice would be a great help

If the kittens are 8 weeks old, they don't need to be nursing. It won't hurt mom, but she should be kept away from them till the stitches are healed. I'm assuming you are in the process of weaning the kittens and they should be eating dry/canned foods pretty well by 8 weeks old.

Please keep them together for another few weeks so they can be more social and better behaved kittens when they leave. Ideally mom should keep them to teach them more then litter pan training till they are a minimum of 10-12 weeks old.

thanks for the advice i was pretty worried about them all kittens are eating tinned and dry food but they latched on to the mom as if they were starving i was more worried about the mom because she lost alot of weight when she had the kittens and is pretty much skin and bone still and after the op i thought feeding them would be way too much for her thanks again
