Cats with Leather fetishes?

Just wondering if anyone else's cats have a fetish with leather? Bud and Echo are constantly laying on my leather shoes (I've got permanent dents on the top of my shoes from this!) or on my leather purse. Even when friends come over and lay their purse down, they will instantly mash it down by laying on it! I make sure to tell everyone about it first...just in case if they have something breakable in it or if they don't want them to lay on it. Most of my friends don't care...they understand how cats have minds of their own!
Anyone else have this problem? Just wondering if my cats are just weird or what?

I have had similiar problems with leather purses. The cats wouldn't lay on the purses, they would scratch at them instead. Maybe there's something about the smell of leather that attracts cats?
