I've had my cat since I was about in the 6th grade. I'm 27 years old now. That makes her 18 or so yrs old. Today one of my roommates told me she went pee while she was asleep. Getting it all over herself. She is a old cat, she does have some health problems with her age. Is it time for me to just put her to sleep? I've been denying its time to myself, but I need to think of what is best for her. Any advice on this?

With an aging pet, there is always a concern of internal organ failure. Renal failure of course being one of the main concerns. Please take your kitty to a vet tomorrow and get a professional's opinion. Your vet will be able to assess the overall condition of your cat, and see for himself what is wrong. Ignoring the obvious will only cause your beloved pet more pain, and I do not mean that you are a careless pet owner (because you have posted your concern here) but that sometimes when we *know* something might need to be done that is hard to do, we tend to look the other way hoping the cat will get better. Without a good qualified professional to guide you here, that could happen if you don't take her in.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I lost my cat to renal failure on 11/26/02 and one of the last things she did was pee on my bed. She couldn't even get up to use the litter box. Please take your cat to the vet ASAP. If it is renal failure, there are treatments you can try, but I would definately consider this a rush situation. Let us know how it goes.

The one thing I, personally, would not do it just put her down without knowing what is going on. Like the people above said...TAKE HER IN AS SOON AS YOU CAN! Just don't make any hasty decisions until you have a vet see her!!
