There is a spot under our kitchen bench where a dishwasher would go. As we don't have one, its just an empty spot with a small hole that leads through the bench to under the sink where the dishwasher hose would go.
Last night Ralph, one of our kittens, got curious and got her head stuck through the hole. Me and my boyfriend tried to pull her out, then we covered her neck in lube but she was still stuck. We tried to cut the hole bigger but she had a huge panic with the noise the knife was making and we were scared she would injure herself.
So we called the fire brigade and they came in less than five minutes
It took them half an hour to cut Ralph free.

Afterwards, asleep like nothing happened:

So much for the idea that a cat's whiskers telling him where he can fit.

Glad to see they were able to help the little guy. Cookies are definitely in order.

The hole has been filled in, and we went down to the fire station and gave the guys that rescued Ralph a 6 pack of beer each

Firemen are so wonderful! Some of you may remember -- that's how Dorothy came to us: a neighbor said a strange cat had been stuck on the roof next door for three days, and five handsome firemen came out to get her down.

Now that she's found her forever home, maybe this is a good time to go visit those firemen again... just to deliver cookies, of course...
