I had forgotten Boots Randolph had local ties.

My nickname when I was little was "Boots" , named after him. Apparently I would shake my little booty to Yakkety Sax.

RIP Boots Randolph.

Ah, I remember him well... around our house when I was a kid, you could always hear Boots Randolph and Roger Miller and The Kingston Trio and Bob Newhart comedy albums... and just thinking about that makes me want to walk up to the Redbud store with my papa and get ice cream to make root beer floats with...

My mother will be devastated - she owns EVERY album, that Boots Randolph ever cut (on vinyl, no less).

My hubby will be sad to hear the news. He plays sax as well as bass so I've heard Yakkety Sax a lot in our house - it's one of hubby's favourites.
