My kitten is only 10 weeks old but has thick and long fur. He gets really dirty and we want to start bathing him. We wondered if anyone could recommend a shampoo and conditioner for cats. The only ones we know of were at pets at home but the rain here has demolished the store for the forseable future.

We would appreciate any info. Thanks.

I'd use Nexxus, Pantane, etc. - something high quality. Charlie gets washed in a special pet shampoo (we've used it on us people and it works
) Its called Kenic Sno-Flake Pet Shampoo. You can only order it from Jeffers.com (pet supply company).

I really feel for everyone that's been hit by all this. The pictures they show on the news is heartbreaking

Do you live in Texas? Our one son is just outside of Dallas - what's the situation in Dallas as far as the flooding?

I live in chesterfield near sheffield. The weather here has been really bad. We had rain on and off for about two weeks now. When it finally stop for a day last week one of the supermarkets in the town caught fire and it took 50 firemen to put it out, the area was cautioned off by police and evacuated!!!
It was horrific .... then the next day it rained again !!!!!

I'd be careful about bathing a kitten with human shampoo. Actually I'm fairly skeptical about bathing adult cats with human shampoo too but am especially worried about kittens. Many things ok for humans are not good for cats/kittens. I'm sure there are human shampoos that are ok but you'd really have to know your ingredients and the safety for use on small animals. A cat's body absorbs and process things quite differently. Their little kidneys and liver are especially sensitive. Even some things ok for dogs are not for cats.
