I had a false alarm today - someone called and said they had a cat matching his description, complete with the spot near the nose and everything. I doubted it was him when she told me where she lived (almost 5 miles away, and across the interstate) but I went anyway of course. He didn't have a black chin like Marvin, but that spot was dead on! I am sure they must be related because the size, shape and location of the spot was exactly the same.

We've had more rain so a lot of my fliers are falling down. I saw a couple huge posters today for a lost animal that said reward - I think I will try that.

And I will go out looking again today. I haven't given up.

I'm not sure about the interstate part, but cats can wander miles away. When I moved house once one of my cats ran away. I decided I would check the old place (6.3km away) just in case, and sure enough, there he was.
I guess its a bit different coz he was just going home (but to the wrong one)

I'm glad you went to check it out, and I hope your baby comes back soon.

Thanks guys. This evening I went looking in a park nearby with some woods behind it but nothing. I am also making the posters tomorrow. I called the person who placed the ad about the found black and white female - the lady said they took it to the vet and it's definitely a female. They even shaved it's stomach to see a scar from being spayed.

I also got a second call from someone else who thought they had Marvin - but this cat had been hanging around much longer than Marvin has been gone. It was also about five miles away and across the interstate so I know he couldn't have been going back and forth all this time.

But these are the first two calls I've gotten, so at least people are still looking. I still have hope.

Check the bulletin boards at vets offices too. My husband and I went in to our vets one day for seomthing and while we were waiting we browsed the board. There was an ad for a missing cat there and the ad for the same cat that had been found.

The vets office was taking calls from people to put ads up and they would just stick them up without looking to see what was there. We, of course, pulled those two off and gave them to the person at the desk to call.

What a horrible reply to post! It's not like a dog incessantly barking next door whose been left out in the heat for 2 hours, which my neighbor does! What nuisance can a cat be? Dig up your garden to use as a litter box? Hey, it's good for the soil, in case you didn't know. And no, I don't let my cats out, but when I was growing up I had an indoor/outdoor cat and nobody complained about him.

Is there a chance someone started feeding the little guy and took him in? Is he microchipped? I’ve known a few people that have that happen and either find out when the microchip number gets run at the new person’s vet, or have the cat show back up 6 months later looking very well fed. It might not hurt to notify vets outside your immediate area too just incase. I hope your little guy turns up soon!

I do not want to derail this thread … but if others are asked to respect those that think it is ok to let their cats roam, I think would be hypocritical to try to invalidate the opinion of those that view those cats- or ANY pet allowed to roam- a nuisance just because their opinion differs. I am glad so many people on here haven’t had to deal with this problem with neighbor cats on the level to where it affects the health and well being of their own cats and dogs, but making a joke out of the issue isn't that funny to those that have.

I got a call this evening about a cat who looked like him wandering the neighborhood about a mile away. I went over there and after about 15 minutes of calling spotted the lookalike cat under a car. I'm sure he is a stray because he is very skinny, not neutered, full of fleas and has a few scars from fighting. I got him to come to me and I petted him a lot. He followed me back to my car about two blocks away so I took him home. He FLIPPED out in the car, I'm sure he's never been in one before. Anyway now he's in my garage. He ate a whole bowl of dry food and a whole can of wet food.

There is a free spay/neuter clinic this weekend so I'll bring him to that, maybe they can check him for FIV and leukemia too. I don't know how my cats will react though to another adult cat.

I still miss my Marvin so much

Because of the "yeah really" in the title above Anakats quoted post I think she was agreeing with Anakat.

Mandini, bless you for taking in that stray. I know it is not Marvin, but the stray needed help, and in your time of grief and anxiousness, you gave that help, what a kind person you are. My prayers are still going out too you and your Marvin, I pray Marvin comes home soon and I pray Marvin is safe and happy where ever he is now, whilst he makes his way back too you

P.S I hope the new edition, helps too fill some of your emptyness at this time, I hope the new edition, gets a clean bill of health
and fit's in with your other furbabies,

I am still broken hearted about Marvin. I am going to put the posters up tomorrow or Saturday (when it stops raining) but I feel like it's useless. I can't believe he's gone. I keep counting the days and desperately wish I could just go back in time and keep him inside that one day.
I cry so much.

Stray kitty is still here and is now my buddy. He was in the garage but I worried it could get too hot in there so he's been moved to my bathroom. My other two cats are not pleased. They have informed me that they find him to be very stinky.
Tonight I sat with him on the bathroom floor and combed him, trying to deflea him. He loves to be combed and even let me comb his stomach. He purred and purred and made bread on the towel on my lap. I was happy I didn't find any ticks.

He has soooo many battle scars though, I can see he's been very busy fighting. I am worried he could have leukemia or feline HIV. This happened with another stray who used to come around a few years ago. I took him to the vet one day when he had a very big cut from a fight, and they tested him and he had both diseases, so we had to put him down.

I will still put up the posters announcing the reward for Marvin, because I need to know that I did everything possible to find him.

Make sure and check shelters far away. I met a man at a Petsmart that was buying food for squirrels. I started chatting with him about it and he shared with me that he trapped his neighbors cats and dumped them in a field about 30 minutes away because they bothered his squirrels. I still am bothered by the thought of it. There are some bad people out there!

This cat certainly doesn't seem as spry as my cats. I'm not sure if this cat is sick, or exhausted from being stray, or even elderly.

I figured he was stray because he was not fixed, had a lot of scars from fighting, the person who called me said he was wandering the neighborhood and he followed me after I petted him. He was really starving and ate a ton of food.

But now that I notice he is not very energetic, I wonder if I just kidnapped someone else's elderly cat??

So sorry to hear about your beautiful cat. Ours ran out the door 3 nights ago and hasn't come home since. Our daughter is absolutely inconsolable and we are stumped as to why she would do this. Any ideas? She has been allowed to go out on the patio with us for a little bit at a time, but has never done anything like this at all. She's 11 and declawed (front) so we are really worried. Anyone that has any ideas on why or what we might do to "show her the way home" would be appreciated. We have distributed flyers, called the vet, police dept, etc. Thanks.

I know how worried you are,my Tomboy has been gone for about a month, yes he is an outside cat, a stray not all that friendly, couldn't get him in the house no matter what. but I love him, and miss him anyways, we also have someone, in our neighbourhood who makes cats disappear,
I heard she feeds them tuna and antifreeze
, no proof just rumours!! but she always says how much she hates cats, they ruin her flowers
