When can kittens be handled by people?

What age can they leave there mum?

Do we need to perchase kitten suplements?

Thanks for any answered question!

Hi and the answers

You can handle kittens from birth - provided the mother trusts you. Just a little - not too much. This will help socialise the kitten to humans. Daily weighing is good

Preferably at age 12-16 weeks. This way you can ensure vaccinations, deworming and neutering.

If the kittens are fit and healthy and are on good premium food, there's no reason to use supplements unless you want to. You can't use supplements (unless absolutely necessary) on kittens until they're about 3 weeks old anyway!

You're welcome!

Yep that just about covers it! You can spay and neuter at 8-12 weeks in some places but as long as the kittens are all done before they get adopted out, its all good. They should really stay with mom until 12 weeks at least.

I handle kittens from the time they are born. As long as its not excessive or too many people for the first month, you are ok.

Ideally its best to keep everyone together (mom/siblings) for 10-12 weeks so they can learn important social/behavioral development - not just learn to eat solid food and use the litter pan.

A good quality kitten food (for mom and babies) is the best. Keep the kittens on kitten food for a good 5 months.

By "kitten supplements", I take it you mean bottle-feeding them if necessary or do you mean a nutritional additive?

If you mean bottle-feeding, then unless your Mom cat isn't nursing them adequately, no, you shouldn't have to supplement them with a kitten formula.

If you mean a nutritional additive, they are getting everything they need from Mom's milk from birth until they begin eating solid foods from a saucer. Most of the higher-quality kitten food varieties are a complete diet and you won't need to add anything to them.
