Feeling A Lump

In the past day or so I started noticing a lump on the right side of my cat, about an inch back from her front leg, about midway between her belly and her back. It is only on her right side. I am guessing its about a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in diameter. She does not react in any way when I put a little pressure on it to see if it bugs her at all.

Is this normal, an internal organ in that part of the body, or is it something I should get checked out with the vet? She is a female roughly 1-2 years old.

Thanks in advance.

Is it warm? Squishy? Hard? It really could be anything, from her rib to a cyst to an abscess. Was it there before, or is it something new? New things should probably be checked out--it's almost always less expensive to catch a problem early.

As far as I know it is new. I have not felt it since I adopted her in March. It is not warm to the touch. It is solid enough and distinguishable enough to be noticeable when I am stroking her fur but it does give when I apply a little pressure to see if she reacted to it in any way.

I'll take her to the vet on Monday to get her checked out just to be safe. Thanks for the reply.
