well last night my cat had 4 kittens. when we left to give her time alone with her kittens she had 1 more kitten. so now we have 5. When they are feeding thay turn her red. is that usual?

What part of the mother turns red? Does it turn back to its normal color?

yes what turns red?
if you mean the nipples then they will go a bit pinky red after suckling, but if they look sore, hot to the touch, or feel very hard then have a vet check her over.

Congrats on your new arrivals....was mum really clever and did it all by herself? How long was her labour ?
I have a pregnant lady who is due very soon.....

What part turns red, you weren't very clear...does it stay red? Is there anything else you notice differently?

ok sorry it is her nipples but they go back to normal

oh well that is normal, think of a hickey, they are sucking on that skin so naturally it is going to get red.

I agree with Jen, it sounds like the normal changes for a nursing mother.

Watch for an angry red color that won't go away - that could be mastitis (infection of the breast).
