Hi guys,

I just got back from Vegas as 3am EST today. I'm wearing my black tank top that i've been pining for all week!!!!!!!!! I just dealt with not having one while I was out there. I go to pick up the boys at the boarders in 5 minutes.

So, I missed the boys so much,, I called every day. Stoli came out of his kennel once but flipped out (sensory overload) so the boarder caught him and put him back. She said he seemed very relieved to be back in his kennel. She also said she tried to get him at first with gloves on and he bit her (remember the fiasco with the gloves and his microchip and he freaked out), so she got a towel and wrapped him up in it and he was fine (just like the good vet does). When ever I talked to her about stoli she'd spell his name whenever she didn't want him to know she was talking about him (like when he was finally eating). He's too smart for his own good. He did fine, ate, drank, peed, pooped and slept with luxor. The husband tried to clean stoli's kennel and he got all upset so he stopped.....i think stoli has a thing for strange men - he HATES them. All of them, the pizza guy, the cable guy.....

now Luxor - I was a little put out when we dropped him off. He fell asleep in his bed in his kennel BEFORE we even left! He was great while we were gone. played, explored, head butted, slept with stoli etc. She loved him. So I bought her a postcard from the Luxor and wrote a thank you to her on it.

So about vegas, I'll post some pictures in a bit, i'm off to get the cats

ok,

so I walked up to the room and as soon as I walked in, Stoli started screaming for me.....He looked so happy and relieved! I opened his kennel and he kept meowing, wanted pets then wanted to explore only if I followed him. He let the owner pet him finally. Luxor wanted to keep playing, he did NOT want to be in his carrier. Stoli just complained the whole way home. As did Luxor, his was mournful meows, Stoli's were nasty, ticked off meows.

We weren't home an hour and stoli had already broken a plant and damaged the floor. Sheesh, he has a habit, this is his third in a year. The first two just damaged the walls, this one the floor. Guess that's our payback.

It's good to be home. It was a long week with the in-laws. But it was fun. I was tired when we got home. We walked and walked and walked the first couple of days. We spent some time at the pool. We saw David Copperfield, Jubilee and the Rat Pack is Back (again). We also went to Star Trek and had some great buffets. We went to this awesome burger bistro in the Paris and had the best burgers. Mine was a chicken burger with bacon, brie and sauteed onion. The bun was homemade with red onions too...

yummy!

What a relief that they're home safe and sound. It's great that Luxor did so well, what a laidback boy
I'm glad Stoli is ok too - maybe a little distressed, but otherwise perfectly fine
Does he look as though he's lost any weight? One of our kitties always used to come back looking really skinny after being boarded.

Glad you had fun at Vegas as well!!! The place in Paris where you had the really good burger - was it next to a stage where they were doing little performances? We had an awesome burger in Paris as well (if I recall correctly...), I wonder if it was the same place?

Can't wait to see photos!

hi sarah,

stoli looked as if he lost weight and luxor definitely grew while we were gone. in the paris - that burger place was just as you go in from bally's and not after you get to the cobblestone. when you stepped out side there was that beautiful raised stained glass ceiling.

Glad you had a good trip and that the cats did ok. Well, Luxor anyway! I'm sure Stoli will forgive you in time...

Glad you had a good time.

Any good tips for other TCS'ers who might be going to Vegas soon? Like the best cheap buffets
, or where not to go to lose your shirt?

well, we didn't venture off the strip and those buffets aren't that cheap. The best one we ate at though was the MGM Grand Buffet - 24.99pp. We saw David Copperfield (I could give or take that), Jubilee (topless, impressive, will definitely see again), The Rat Pack is Back (extremely funny, a cross between 60s rat pack humour and what they might be like today, will definitely see for a third time).

OMG, side note, I just had to pick up a broken glass the boys knocked over. This is the second object they have broken since they've been home

THE best cheap buffet is at the Orleans Hotel - a stone's throw from the strip but off the beaten path. Locals eat there.
I know this, because a friend of mine lives out there and took me to all the best places.

Welcome home!!! I'm jealous - I miss Vegas and want to go back to play! I love to rent a Harley out there and go riding through Red Rock Canyon, or go horseback riding...it's so beautiful in the desert.

oh! and on my last day there I was in the restroom and I heard a woman talking on her cell phone and she was crying to a friend about how she couldn't believe what she did and she's going to have to tell her family and will she back her up etc etc etc...

guess what happens in vegas won't stay in vegas anymore....

That's not cheap at all. No way the average person could afford to have a good time at those prices. And how kind of the boys to leave you with a mess upon arriving home.

Nice pics though.

yeah, it was expensive but we had budgeted for it. and we had saved for a year. basically we got a vegas book, listed all the stuff we wanted to do and prices and just saved for that amount.

oh and by the way - if you REALLY want to save money, bring your own breakfast/snacks and booze. We saved so much money doing that. I only had breakfast down there once. 4 of us had drinks each night before going out and after we got back so we actually only bought a couple of drinks outside of our hotel room. we bought mixers (tonic, juice) there.

thanks!

I think I gambled about 6 dollars on video poker - that lasted about a half hour. Pretty good. But other than that we spent our money on things that would actually pay off, like gift shops!

My favorite casino is the Venetian - it doesn't smell like smoke! They perfume the air and it's nice.

Yes, the Orleans is where you get the best food for the money.
Also, go to Hoover Dam and take the tour. Hiking at Mt Charleston is fun.

But it is TO HOT TO COME TO LAS VEGAS right now. 115 this week with 3 %
humidity.
I feel so sorry for all the dogs that have to live outside.

But 115 with 3% humidity is MUCH more comfortable than 85 with 70% humidity. I went horseback riding in the desert when it was 120 and 7% humidity and was completely comfortable wearing a long-sleeved white cotton T-shirt.

It wasn't until I'd spent some time in Vegas that I realized just how heavy the air can be on the East Coast - talk about trying to breathe through a wet blanket!
