I'm asking this dreaded question, although I'm a bit afraid of the answer.

I've had a cat who went into heat, I know what they sound like and what they do. Mushy had kittens 5 1/2 weeks ago. Since she had kittens, she's taken to panting from time to time??? and within the last 2 weeks she's started to MEOW alot...Not like a yowling...but an incessant MEOW.

She's still nursing, and she seems to "talk" to her kittens, which is very cute. She doesn't MEOW unless we are paying attention to her, and then she seems kind of wrestless. Other than that, nothing out of the ordinary...
Is this normal? Could it be that she just deals with her heat cycles in this way? She's taken to biting my husband a bit as well... biting affectionately I should say.

They can go into heat quite soon after giving birth, so you'll definitely want to keep her inside!
My cat was biting us, although not really affectionately, and it turned out that she had ovarian cysts that were hurting her.

So, yeah, she's probably in heat.

Sounds like she's in heat. My queens would sound like they were "dying"
Keep her inside, and call your vet to find out when she can be safely spayed.
