And as far as parents not letting them get a certain hairstyle, that's because we are older and know what is appropriate/looks good and what isn't.
lol, I will auctually encourage this uniqueness. Perhaps one day when I have kids I will randomly ask one if they want to dye their hair purple! Life is too short to care about giving other parents bad impressions of your child. I find it great and liberating.

My 17 year old has actually died her hair purple.
BUT, it is NOT permemant and washes out in about 10 washes.
I have 4 kids, each of them are about as individual as they come.I am all for them being their own person.BUT, there are limits to that.

I had the Farah Fawcett hair in the early 70's when I was in high school. I liked it because for me it was really easy. I had thick hair that had a natural wave to it when it got longer. When I had the right cut all I had to do was use some mousse, blow dry it, and it just kind of naturally went that way. I knew some girls though that didn't have the right hair for it and they would have to spend a lot of time and use a lot of styling product to get their hair to look that way.

Ponyhawk, that's it! I hope I didn't offend you...I actually thought the ponyhawk was cute too. Definitely unforgettable! He's just the first person I have seen with that kind of hair style in 10 years. Of course, I live in West Virginia...not many mohawks around here. Most people are still stuck in the mullet phase.

Those limits are based on what the parent wants them to be.
I will NOT allow my children to permanently dye their hair a Godawful color, pierce their bodies,NO pierced ears on boys,no tats until they are 18.
My limits are well known by my kids. They know what they can and can't do.
As far as "it's only hair", yes it is.BUT, I wouldn't be caught out in public looking like that, nor would my kids.
If you can't go like that to Church, or to something formal, then you shouldn't have it in the first place.

Thats silly to me lol......no peirced ears on boys? How sexist.
You need to remember that your kids arnt you, so its not fair that just because you wont dye your hair green doesnt mean that they shouldnt be able too.

I'll have to disagree with you there! IMO the worst hair on men is that little monk-like strip around the sides and back, and shiny bald on top. Or the pathetic attempts at implants on the top or the comb-over.
Bald can be really sexy!

I am far from big hair, I've got like 2-3" tops! It's punky, but preppy.
I apparently licked my finger & stuck it in a socket one too many times according to lil sis!

OK. That was a bit off topic!

I didn't ask you for your opinion did I?
Sorry, but your opinion doesn't make one difference in how I raise my kids.

(As for being sexist, I live in the South.I am married to a true hillbilly.---need I say more?)

I didn't want this to be a debate. I was just showing my son's new hair cut

Seems like the last couple posts I've made have ended in a debate worthy of IMO.
