My fiance and I are now proud owners of a stray cat that his sister found. She is getting spayed even if she is pregnet becasue I know the kittens will just be euthenized and we wont be able to find homes for them. I know it sounds cruel to abort the babies but I guess less cruel then if she were to give birth and the kittens being put down.

Her nipples are large and pink and she is eating and sleeping alot. I don't know if it means she is pregnet or not?

It sounds like she is pregnant. When you take her to be spayed the vet will tell you if she actually is or not.

You could always take the kittens to a no-kill animal shelter, but it is all up to you.

I agree with you compleatly, I would rather have the kittens aborted before they are born than for them to be raised and put down when they are older.

I am happy to hear this. I always thought that people think it is cruel to abort and end a pregnancy, yet it isn't cruel to let animals go thru with an unknown birth and risk the kittens growing up with problems or disease, no home, allowing to breed, be abuse, neglected, end up in a shelter, euthanized etc. You may find great homes now but most people don't screen homes and follow thru to make sure kittens are altered and kept forever. The answer isn't to just take them to a no-kill shelter, good luck finding one that isn't full first of all, and good luck on them not catching something in the shelter before they are adopted.

Anyways, that is great, good luck with her spay and hope she recovers well. Thank you for caring for her and taking her in!
