I'm not sure. I would say that as long as she can't get out and no other cats can get in, it might be fine. I'd just be worried about the temperature since kittens can't control their own temp for the first couple of days... I'd say that someone more knowledgable would have to tell you the temp part.

No, I don't think that is a great idea. If she can't manage to get out another cat can always manage to get in. Also it isn't the best place for kittens to grown up either. The best thing you can do for her and her kittens is bring her inside.

There are so many other things you can do. Some vet clinics will take in pregnant cats, not many but there are a few, a family member, friend, ect.

I understand that you want to be there for her, but you need to figure out what is best for the cat. Living in a hot barn with only a fan to keep her cool isn't what is best for her.

Also, what if there are complications when she is giving birth? You will need to be able to keep an eye on her. Taking her in is the best thing you can do, and if you can't do that ask a friend if they can and just visit the mom and her kittens everyday.

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. If the barn will not allow other cats in or her out, only you know that. Indoors would be best. Try to find or borrow a large dog crate if you have to. But the point is to keep her from getting pregnant again and keep the kittens safe. Are you going to be spaying her after this litter? There are low cost options all over the place so we might be able to help you find one. but don't give up with her. Bring her in, try regular litter, take bits of dirt or whatever from the area she goes in your barn, even put some poop in there to show her where she needs to go. Are there other barn cats? She really should be alone until after the babies are born so she can raise them in peace.

If your basement is safe then that sounds fine. Talk to your parents and let them know what is going on. Try and convince them to let her stay indoors but if the basement is the best you can do then I guess that is alright.

Make sure you get her spayed as soon as possible.
