Yes, we HAD to go see it last night too.
Much to my personal dismay because I had a TON of stuff to do, but Transformers rates over all else apparently. Even an upset wife.

It was big and loud. If that's what you expect, that's definitely what you'll get.
Earl liked it a lot, and there was big applause at the end of the movie - probably even more than the applause at the end of Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith.

That said, and I may have been coloured by being irritated at having to go in the first place, but I was not terribly impressed. Transformers didn't interest me 20+ years ago, and they still don't. For being 2 1/2 hours long, there wasn't much of any depth to the movie or the characters/robots, except Bumblebee. I liked him. There was one scene that kinda touched on it (giant robots trying to hide from parents - that was actually pretty funny!), but the rest was just typical Micheal Bay big and loud.

Earl did say that what he was disappointed about was that there wasn't a lot of interaction between the Autobots, like there was in the cartoon. (What I called character development
) He said in the cartoon it was about 90% robot/10% human, but in the movie it was about 60/40%.

So overall - if you're looking forward to the movie, and like big and loud, you'll probably like the movie. If you're totally anal about Transformers, could go either way. If you're being forced to see it by someone who is totally anal about Transformers and you could care less, don't expect to have your mind completely changed in 2 1/2 hours.

We are going today.

I can't wait to see my husband's reaction to it, he loves big loud movies with tons of special effects.

I'm going to get a big bucket of popcorn and enjoy myself.

You were right about being big and loud. It was a fun thing to go do, and I did enjoy it a lot. My husband smiled the whole way through and laughed like a little kid.

I just got back from seeing it and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I have a feeling there may be a sequel (or two) to this movie.

That is also what my boyfriend said. He hopes there is another one since he loved that one. He is going to make me go and see it again soon.

Maybe one of you guys can answer something for me. If I remember form watching the cartoon as a kid, weren't the original transformaers good guys? From the movie preveiw it looks like they are bad guys. Am I remembering it right from my childhood? If thats the case I won't see it. I loved it growing up and I don't want hollywoods version to ruin my childhood memories.

There are two sides in the movie as well. The Decepticons (bad guys) and the Autobots (good guys). The Autobots are sworn to not harm humans and to protect them from the Decepticons while they pursue their mission.

It's not the same as the cartoons, not that it should be. Go see it!

We went and saw it on Tuesday night and I really enjoyed it! DH was a little disappointed that things weren't the same as the cartoons. I don't remember too much about the cartoons, so I don't care, and I think you have to expect them to exercise a bit of a "creative license" anyway.

I loved the humour in the movie, I didn't expect it to be so funny, and I thought it was just fun - and it had an Aussie chick in it!! WOOHOO!!

One bit I thought was really funny was at the start when the kid was shopping for the car. You know how they went with Bumblebee being a Camaro because VW wouldn't let them use the Beetle (or whatever the story was...), and in the caryard, the guy is trying to sell him a Beetle, and Bumblebee smacks the Beetle with his car door
That was awesome

We were lucky - DH's company had booked out and paid for a bunch of cinemas, so we could walk straight in, get a good seat and just enjoy it.

When we came out there was a MASSIVE line out the cinemas of people who had already bought tickets, and were just lining up early to get into the later (non-work) Transformers showing.

Sis took her grandkids (ages 10 - 15) to see it yesterday and the only scene they could talk about was when a parent entered a kid's room and asked if the kid was "pleasuring" himself".
