I'm so sorry I haven't had the chance to reply to hardly anyone's posts lately.

My father-in-law, who had been very sick for a while (liver cancer) passed away yesterday. He had been suffering so much. It happened at noon.

I am pretty upset because one of the last things I told one of my friends was "I wish it would end soon...." And of course, speak those words and look what happens. I know he was suffering and he had no life left. He was stuck in bed, weighed less than 100 pounds and was not eating anymore. I'm just upset at myself right now. I really wanted his suffering to end. Now, ours begins...

Today, I booked for all the floral arrangements, bought hubby a new pair of pants and I have to sit down and try to write something about him.

I think, even when someone is suffering, that letting go has got to be the hardest thing to do. And all of this brings back my memories of both my mom and dad. It's going to be an emotional couple of days.

Just want you all to know that I'm not gone for good....I'm just going to take a break and take care of hubby for a while.

Hugs to all and talk soon.

Hugs from Colorado, too. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Don't feel bad about saying that to your friend...it was just his time to go. I remember when my Grandmother was in the hospital following her second major stroke. I prayed that her suffering would end, and I still don't regret doing that. It sounds like your father in law was in similar circumstances, he is free from pain now and in a much better place.

I'm so sorry to hear this!

I know some of what you are going through, since my father died of colon cancer. Cancer is such a horrible disease, and you shouldn't be ashamed at wanting him to pass on. My father lived 4 years with the disease and for the last year he just wanted to die. It was a horrible experience to live through. Now you can take comfort in each other and know that he is finally at peace.

Take time to heal.

I am so sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up for what you said about wishing it would end. Wishing someone in pain would suffer no longer is a very unselfish, loving thought. When I cared for my s/o's grandmother, and my very dear friend, during her final days with cancer, we would pray daily for her pain to end, and for her to go to God. Even though I miss her every day after 10 years, I am still glad she is not in pain, and I was with her when she went. Wishing you much comfort and strength during this difficult time.
