help-my cat is treating me as a tree!!

i am new to this site, and i need a little help. I have two wonderful kitties, they are adopted brothers now. my little orange and white tabby (the red head attitude and all has found a new bad habit to add to his growing list of things not to do. While my boyfriend and i are standing in the kitchen at the counter, doing dishes, or just standing in general; my cat has decided to start leaping off of the ground and digging all 4 paws in to us. Then he just hangs on for dear life. I don't know if this is because he is wanting to be closer to us, or if he is trying to get something we are holding or are next to, but he will not stop. The water bottle worked for some of his other bad behavior ( getting on the table, scratching the chair, stealling tissue from the trash) but it seams that he does not even care about being sprayed in the face anymore. he just closes his and takes it, until he finished doing whatever he wants. help, how can i get my little devil under control? it hurts when he jumps on us, and i don't want to hurt him by pushing him off!!! any ideas on how to teach him to stop this behavior and his others?

My kitty Charlotte was doing this too. The exact same thing. She would climb up us. What we did was just pull her off of us and put her back on the ground. We also gave her treats when she didnt do this. Eventually she just stopped doing it, I like to think she got the hint... I hope that helps...

I agree with Ashlie, you have to be consistent.

Gently remove them and say no in a firm voice, maybe put them near a toy or scratch mat so their attention is focussed on something else but you have to repeat this over and over until the message gets through
