We have 4 interns...and 5 regular staff members. Our interns have all been very good, actually. There's only one who kind of irks me, and that has more to do with her attitude and the way she carries herself than anything.

IMO, a big part of the problem is movies & TV - people in movies & on shows often wear EXTREMELY inappropriate attire to their jobs, & no one ever seems to notice. i saw a Charmed episode once, where Phoebe was going to her office, a newspaper - she wore a bare midriff, low-cut top, & pants low-cut enough you could see her hipbones & the dimples on her rear! i mean, really - for work? looked more like nightclub attire!

That's so true... if I wore that to work my boss would laugh and send me home, or he'd give me a sweater.

ok lets talk about the intern that is working on second shift,

the one intern we have now, drives me totaly crazy, how she is very pretty, i really dont care when in the office.

1) she has been flirting with me, Several other people have been poiting this out,and joking about it. I just ignore it.

2) couple of days ago, her skirt was only mid thigh.
then did the old, drop pencil and bend over from waist, so that everything on the back side was showing.

3) was sitting tonight in such a fashion that you could see inside her dress shirt.

4) she keeps hanging out, and trying to talk, several times, i had to tell her to go home.

i am really thinking of taking this up with my boss, since i have told her 3 times to chill out. Dont know what else to do with her.. any other ideas?

Our interns are usually full year and most are MBA students. This means we have two extremes:
"the Alex P. Keaton" for those of you who remember Michael J Fox's TV character...these are the ones who come in dressed in a three piece suit (we are business casual) ready to run the place...well, no, part of your job IS photocopying, prove you can do this and I'll give you a nice project. In your interview we warned you that there would be tasks both big and small...you're not my boss yet and you can't effectively manage people if you don't understand what they do.

"the spice girls"--yeah, we don't have that many dress code rules, but these gals manage to break them all at once. One used to wear low rise pants and thong underwear...yes, I know she wore thongs because she once got up on a table to adjust a projector and gave us all a full moon show

We had one girl who must have sent her twin to the interview because she had a 180 degree personality change between the interview and the start of work. She kept bathroom slippers at her desk and wore them around the office. She always had a convenient "exam" when we might have to work late (and they get paid time and a half overtime). Every task given to her had to be re-done by someone else
. Of course at the end of the year, she was the one looking to be hired full time.

That being said, we have had some who were very very good, but those ones never stay around.

I'd go to your boss and tell him. If it makes you uncomfortable then he should know.

That is one of my biggest peeeeeves with my boss! (shouldn't type this from work, but eh' tomorrow is my last day after all!)

I go through a lot of what you all have said with my students. Especially the cell phones. And they are all adults, most at least 10-15 years older than me. Some old enough to be my mother! I've thought some of my troubles were because I'm much younger than them, but I think it's just plain laziness! I've had to basically tell people that no, it's not appropriate to have the Playboy bunny logo as a fashion accessory.
Oh and that wearing 4 layers of clothing and carying at least 5-6 bags of junk with your hair flying all over makes you look like a homeless person. Truthfully I've seen homeless people that looked more put together!
Ahhh.....this is a reminder of what I will not miss!
