I haven't had a lap cat in ages. All my babies loved being scratched and stuff, but they never liked being picked up...

And now we have Sammy and he's a total lap cat. Don't tell the others, but I think he's now my favorite.
It just ROCKS to be on the computer and have a snuggly kitty curl up in your lap... or be watching a movie with a napping kitten curled up on your stomach. And when he isnt snuggling with you, he wants to go for rides on your shoulder


Lap cats are just too fabulous

Yes, although I love all of mine, there is something very special about a cat who really wants to snuggle on you. Dushka and Ellie are my real lapcats, and fight for the position. Wellington will sometimes come on my lap, but both Persil and Biscotte prefer not to be picked up most of the time. My new one, Bonaparte, shows all the signs of being a lapcat though.

Molly is my only lap cat. She will sit next to me for some lovin and sit halfway on my lap (never fully on it for some reason)...she is also the only one that will lay with me. She never sleeps on me though.

I think I move in my sleep too much for all of them.


The others will lay on the desk while I am on the computer though. Bosco likes to lay on the back of the chair.

Excalibur tried to shove Derek off my lap yesterday....they ended up sharing and Gabby then got scritches from me and Derek.

Lucky is all lap all the time!! It's a wonderful treat for me when Rambo comes for a 10 minute lap time. It doesn't matter if I have something hugely important to get up and do...if Rambo decides he needs meowmy time, I take advantage of that.

Of course...right now, with it being 40+C with the humidity, I can't understand for the life of me why they want to cover meowmy with their furnace bodies! They were both trying to climb on me last night....I was sweltering..the last thing i could handle was a fur coat! LOL

Puff will lay with me sometimes. He's only a lap cat on his terms. So I really appreciate it when he's cuddling.

I'm with you! They all love to hang out nearby and will follow me from room to room, but will never actually sleep ON me.

Yes, it is. Alley is right there now. Sometimes it makes typing a little hard, but well worth it. Persi used to be a lap cat. He is laying by my chair right now but he has changed since the arrival of Alley. Oh well, if I had two cats on my lap right now I guess things would be a mite difficult.

Skye has decided she wants to be on top of me all the time now too.
Shes always been sweet but she never leaves me alone. LOL Not that I dont like it. Calamity isnt happy to share my lap now though.

you know zoey & jenny were lap cats when they were kittens (we got them at 7 & 9 months though) then it just stopped. Jenny likes to lay on you if you are laying down. once in a while the boys will come on my lap...very rare. if it's really cold or something. Cesar will let me hold him like a baby while on my lap though so i guess that kinda counts
