Didn't think of that - and I know its been done. Might be a very good idea to get the test done. Especially if she's keeping any for show or breeding!

Ok, one of "my girls" got back with me early this morning and it seems they do have this Fever Coat thing. She told me not to be alarmed, but I was ina a panic because I thought they were sick because of this. But I feel better about this now. According to her, the Red/White is their Dad, and I have 3 males and a female..... and I found out more about this as well so Mom is going to the Vet today.

I am not new new, but still new enough not to know when something arises that is off ballance from the norm (thank god for my girls that have been so wonderful to help me)...... Mom has this Mastitis thing and she is making a trip to the Vet today and my girl says this is why the kittens probably got this fever coat. She IS feeding them, but not like I'd like her to, but she is getting better everyday. I kind of expected a little of this where Persians are concerned, my other one, I had to help her every step of the way with her first litter, and she is on her second one now and is the most lovely little mom.

And for the record, I don't show my cats, my health doesn't allow me to do the traveling that would be needed to be involved on that level. I would love to do that, but it's just not in my deck of cards.

Thank you so very much for all of your help, you all have been wonderful to take the time to help me with this. NOW, thanks to you all, I'll know this much more about my ummmmm..... craft? lol

Oh, the fever coat thing is absolutely nothing to worry about. I've had one myself. He was deep black on his legs and head but the body was steel grey. His mother was very healthy during the whole pregnancy and she wasn't stressed by anything really (I only had her and her very best friend in my home and nothing new happend during her pregnancy).

With time the coats will grow to their real colors. I'm sure they will grow up and become absolutely beautyflu cats.

Then one of the red/creams is a girl - too bad you didn't get another tortie out of the litter - would have been helpful in sexing the kittens

Nope, she said one of the black ones is the female, it has some tortie looking markings around the face and on the back close to the back legs, that much we CAN tell. Her belly is white almost all the way down though, that wouldn't be a tortie would it? Her face has some reddish markings around her eyes and mouth, and like 3 of these markings on the undercoat, if that is a word even. I didn't notice it at first until she pointed this out to me. So according to her, and even she had to call in someone else for help on this one..... both reds are males, and she says one of those might even be a cream/white, not a red at all, and one is a definite red, and the other two are a black and and possible tortie/calico. She doesn't breed persians, only Himalayans, so she has little experience with Persians. She is going to talk to someone else she knows that breeds persians.

The whole color thing I am still working out on this. And I'll get it one of these days I suppose. lol

They are still very small though, not even 48 hours old. So I am not sure how you'd even tell what sex they are at this point, I am not quite THAT good. lol

Sol, thank you so much for all of your help and reassurance, it is extremely important to me that they are all healthy, business or no business, if not one ever sold, they need to be healthy and that's what matters to me.

Ok that makes sense then. She would be a tortie and white - not a calico. But I had a tortie kitten when born only had a very tiny spot of red on their back (more red came in later). Thought she was a black till I notice the spot.

I didn't notice any red on the kitten. Since you have a tortie - then its positive the father is the red/white.

Just looked at the pics again - looks like a red smudge near the nose - is that the tortie? The fever coat would hide any other red markings till its gone.

As far as cream - it MIGHT be - too early to tell, but usually cream is very pale. It might be a lighter red. Have to wait and see.

Yes, she has red spots on her face, one on each cheek, one above each eye and three on her back. Dilana has no white, so I wasn't sure a tortie could have white on it, now I know. Thank you. I learned something new today, so I am better already.

And the other one, it looks ALMOST white, even underneath close to the skin, it looks white. I have another litter that has a cream and white in it and this one looks like that one did, very very light colored.

These are my older ones, Tack and Railz:

Who knows, with this whole fever thing, they could be green for all I know.....

You are funny. I wish I was good at making movies, you think that is cute, you should see them play. They are so little, short, fat and dumpy and they are learning their cat skills this week, so they are a barrel of laughs to watch. I've missed great movies all week just watching them play and learn how to pounce and stalk each other.

Tac, the Blue one, he isn't scared of anything, his name is short for Attack, he walks up to my full grown adult males and tries to pounce them..... that's hilarious. Thankfully all of my males are very easy going or he'd be dead, he has NO fear of anything at all.... absolutely NONE. He walked up to Jordis, my other nursing mother this morning and attacked her and then started trying to nurse from her, and that fool cat just let him, purring the whole way. lol

Your babies sound absolutely precious!!!! I love when they start learning how to play, you can just watch them for hours

Just out of curiosity, are you breeding your Himalayan as well? I assume you've thought of the fact that he wouldn't be able to breed with the Persians if he was fixed

Well, I usually haven't been that "into" Persians (just haven't known any, really) but little Tack has me wrapped around his paw!

Yes I am breeding Persians as well as Himalayans.... he is my male to go with my Females, of which I have 3 of. lol

kluchetta, he has had me hooked as well. SO many people told me if I wanted cats to actually play with, not to get Persians, they are too laid back and lazy to play, but I haven't seen that out of any of mine. They are so precious and playful, and I haven't seen so much personality. My breeders that I bought are lazy and laid back and mostly dumb as a box of rocks, but the ones that have been bred in my home aren't like that at all.

Maybe it is because my kids and I play with them and love them so very much as they are growing, they are handled by us from the day they are born. Maybe that has something to do with it, I don't know, but they are such a joy.
