I agree with using more maragarine/butter and more marshmallows-add some peanut butter too!! I melt chocolate chips (with about a tablespoon of butter/maraarine for spreading) and spread on top. Now I have to go to pick up the ingredients!!

John and I have been making rice krispie treats a lot lately... we just follow the directions on the back of the rice krispie box and add just a bit more butter and marshmellows and they turn out great.

Yeah that marshmellow stuff in the jar would work quicker (heating) then normal marshmellows. And the marshmellows are in the isle where the cake, cooking, baking stuff is - usually near the pudding

IA. If you need me, just meow..
Well, they are done. I don't get why they say to put them into a 13x9x2 pan. they'd come out so thin they wouldn't be worth eating. That's nuts! So I made twice the batch and am hoping for the best...Hubby hasn't eaten any yet. I'll let you know if he ends up in the hospital or at the dentist.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Great, now I want to make RIce Krispy treats to go with the cookie dough I made earlier this week, lol.

Honestly, I think I bake more for others than for myself.

Sorry, but I don't have that size in my stacking measuring cups.

I am one of those who does not like Rice Krispies Treats. I think it's because I am not a big fan of marshmallows.

Isn't there a way to make them without cooking using the marshmallow creme?

counting down until graduation!!
So? How are they? I was just reading this, and I was thinking if they turn out hard again, it might be that the marshmallows are being cooked too long or over too high of heat. I know that chocolate is picky that way...

I'm sure there is a way- just mix in melted chocolate instead!

I don't make these in particular, but I've been cooking for a long time. If you heat the sugar (in the marshmallows) too high and/or too long it will become hard. The way to make hard candy like lollipops is to heat the sugar to 300 degrees F and then let it cool.

You'll want to heat the marshmallows and butter on low heat (or double boiler) just until melted.
