Speaking from personal experience, Persi was using that scratching post long before Alley arrived. Alley sticks to the corrugated cardboard scratchers I have around the house.

She has been pretty demanding in the past but I think this just goes to prove the article, because the scratching post is saturated with Persi's scent marks so she leaves it alone!
