How long can adult cats hold their bladders? When Uno and Sace decided to come out of the kennel last night, i never saw them hit the litterbox. I checked it today, but it ony had one pee in it, and no poo, meaning only one cat went. Could it be stress of a new home? they Do know where the litterbox is, and i uncovered it, just in case they dont like it covered.

My male cat has held his bladder/bowel movements for three days before. Once when he was at the vet (he refuses to use their litterpans) and once when I had to change his litter (he didn't like the new litter, and held it until he had no choice but to use it. Now he loves it)
It could very well be the stress from the move. Are they eating and drinking normally?

I would say the stress of moving has a lot to play in it
I bought a Feliway diffuser as well as the spray when i moved house, and sprayed a couple of times in every room and on the stairs and it really helped my cats stay stress free

I just came in here from cleaning the litterbox. I use the clumping kind and there was the usual HUGE clump that Alley does. She drinks a lot of water and then holds it in as long as possible before going, it would appear. Yet she has never missed using the box. I have no idea why she acts like this but to answer your question, they seem to be able to hold their bladders for a very long time if they so choose. I guess the question is why they would choose to do so. I keep the box extra clean and very deep with clean litter. Both cats use the same litter box but I have no problem at all determining who is doing what and Persi leaves small clumps, several times a day as opposed to Alley leaving one that I need to get the shovel for.

Two of my boys only go once a day, so when they do - it's a very big clump. If they were leaving gigantic clumps more than once every 24 hours, I would be concerned. But I know their habits and what is "normal" for them...so it's not alarming. So, yes I'm another one who needs a shovel.
